Flash Flash

Just nerding out by myself tonight.  Commencing another lighting experiment, if you want to call it that.

I crudely put together some pictures in Microsoft Paint, haha. The first picture shows the flash directly overhead, the second picture shows flash to camera left.

My dogs are probably seeing flash spots, but they will be alright.

Head, Graffiti, and Emotion

I’ve been pretty busy with a lot of things going on in my life lately.  And by lately, I mean the last few months.  I haven’t been into my photography as much as I wish I could have been. Reality just caught me by surprise, I guess.

I finally took the jump and got myself a Manfrotto 498RC2 tripod head to match my Manfrotto 190xProB tripod legs.  I’m a firm believer in “You get what you pay for.” — Sure, I paid a premium price for the tripod head, but I wanted something that would support my heavy ass camera (and any future upgrades) without drooping after prolonged use.  And I figure I would use this tripod for a few years (10+ years), or I could sell it and make my money back.

Happy late birthday present to myself (with Pickle’s approval).

I’m feeling pretty good about this set up.  Too bad that it weighs approximately 7 lbs. before camera; which will be a pain in the ass if I ever decide I want to take it on a hike around downtown Dallas or anything like that. But seriously, this should have been one of the very first items I bought for my camera.

I decided I wanted to try something different and out of my comfort zone in terms of photography.  I fell flat on my face trying to take the following picture: it’s very raw and unfinished, very new to me, and very unknown to me.  I am not ‘classically’ trained in photography, and I may never be, but I would like to dedicate the picture to Pickle, the love of my life. (don’t mind all the junk in the background, haha)
